They walked the roof, came back down, and told us it was not damaged enough to be worth a claim. Wrote it up anyway with photographs so we would have a dated record. Six months later a second storm finished the job and that file made the whole claim straightforward.

Our roof is a nightmare of hips and valleys and we wanted metal. They talked us out of it. Said the flashing labor would cost more than the panels and every transition was another place to leak. Put a rubberized shingle on instead and it has been through two hail events without a repair.

The attic was the part nobody else bothered to look at. Turned out the soffit vents had been painted shut years ago and insulation was sitting on top of the rest of them. They fixed the intake while the roof was off. Upstairs is noticeably cooler now.

Storm took part of the ridge on a Saturday night. They ran the tarp over the ridge and screwed lath through it instead of dropping tires on the thing, and it held through a week of wind while we waited on materials. Photos were taken before anything got covered, which the adjuster remarked on.
